Ahora — Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 4, 2026
Ahora is a Chrome Extension that helps you pause before online purchases. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data Ahora collects, how it is stored, and how you can control it.
What data does Ahora collect?
Ahora stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome’s built-in storage (chrome.storage.local):
- Your decisions: When you interact with the Ahora overlay (decline, postpone, or purchase), we save the website domain, your choice, the estimated cart amount, and a timestamp.
- Aggregated stats: Total amount not spent, number of conscious choices, and your streak of consecutive days.
- Your preferences: Selected theme (Default, Forest, or Calm), analytics preference, and any sites you’ve chosen to disable Ahora on.
Where is the data stored?
All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API.
Anonymous analytics (enabled by default, opt-out available): Ahora sends anonymous usage events (such as when the overlay is shown and which choice you made) to Google Analytics via the Measurement Protocol. You can disable this at any time using the “Share anonymous usage data” toggle in the dashboard. This data includes:
- The website domain (e.g.
bol.com) - Your choice (decline, postpone, or purchase)
- Your selected theme
- The extension version
- A randomly generated anonymous ID (UUID) that identifies your installation — not you personally
This ID is generated locally, stored in chrome.storage.local, and contains no personal information. Resetting your data also removes the anonymous ID.
Does Ahora track me?
Ahora does not collect personal information. Ahora does not:
- Collect personal information (name, email, IP address)
- Use cookies or tracking pixels
- Monitor your browsing activity outside of checkout pages
- Access your payment information or cart contents beyond the displayed total
Anonymous usage data (see above) is shared with Google Analytics by default. You can turn this off at any time in the dashboard.
What websites does Ahora access?
Ahora activates only on checkout and cart pages of supported online stores (such as Amazon, Bol.com, Zalando, and others listed in the extension). It detects checkout pages using URL patterns and page structure — it does not read or store the content of these pages.
How can I delete my data?
You can delete all Ahora data at any time:
- Click the Ahora icon in your Chrome toolbar
- Scroll to the bottom of the dashboard
- Click “Reset data” and confirm
Alternatively, uninstalling the extension removes all stored data.
